Library holdings contain more than 90 thousand volumes. Six thousand people use the library. Every year there are more than 40 thousand visits to the library.

The City Library is one of the cultural centers in the town of Velikiy Ustyug.  A club of library friends, a discussion club for youth , lecture series for the teenagers have been organizing  at the library.The library organizes also the lecture series focused on the Regional Study, Information Days, literature and music meetings.

The City Library is the largest information center in the town. To better meet the needs of the inhabitants and guests of the town the library offers its  rich universal holdings of   the reading room and the circulation department , reference desk for cultural tourism, regional study and youth policy; database “Contemporary Velikiy Ustyug”, a large number of reference sources and textbooks; CD, Internet access, a small book shop.
